GN Solids continues to expand its presence in global tunneling operations with the recent delivery of six slurry separation plants designed specifically for slurry balance tunnel boring machine (TBM) applications. These systems have been engineered to process flow rates of 500 m³/h and 750 m³/h, providing reliable and consistent solids control in demanding underground construction environments.
Each plant is built around a three-stage treatment process consisting of a scalping screen, desander, and desilter. This configuration allows for efficient removal of coarse, medium, and fine solids, ensuring that the drilling fluid can be properly conditioned and recirculated. Maintaining this level of control is essential in slurry TBM operations, where fluid performance directly impacts excavation stability, cutterhead efficiency, and overall project progress.
The systems are designed with a modular structure, allowing for a compact footprint while maintaining full processing capability. This approach simplifies transportation and accelerates installation on site, which is particularly valuable for large infrastructure projects operating under tight construction schedules. The modular layout also provides flexibility in adapting to site-specific constraints without compromising system performance.
These slurry separation plants are being deployed in support of shield tunneling projects in South Korea, where consistent performance and high separation efficiency are critical to maintaining operational continuity. By delivering systems that balance throughput capacity with reliable solids control, GN Solids continues to support contractors working in complex geological and logistical conditions.
This project reflects GN Solids’ ongoing commitment to practical engineering and dependable process equipment. As tunneling projects continue to scale in complexity and volume, the ability to deliver systems that perform consistently under real-world conditions remains a defining factor in long-term project success.
