One of the most common questions we receive is, "What equipment do I need for my application?"
The answer depends on the material being processed. Whether the project involves drilling fluids, municipal sludge, mining tailings, industrial wastewater, hydrovac waste, food processing byproducts, or another challenging slurry, the more information available at the beginning of the discussion, the more accurately we can recommend a solution.
Many customers assume they need a specific machine because they have seen similar equipment in another operation. In reality, successful solids-liquid separation depends on several factors beyond simple flow rate. Feed solids concentration, particle size distribution, specific gravity, viscosity, desired discharge dryness, available footprint, and operational goals all influence equipment selection.
When evaluating a new project, even basic information can be extremely valuable. Laboratory reports, photographs, videos, material safety data sheets, specific gravity measurements, solids percentages, particle size information, and estimated processing volumes can significantly reduce uncertainty during the engineering process. If representative samples are available, those can provide additional insight into the material's behavior.
Not every project begins with complete data. Many clients contact us during the early planning stages and are still determining their exact requirements. That is perfectly acceptable. Our team regularly conducts video conferences, site visits, and in-person consultations to help customers better understand their process and identify practical solutions.
At GN, our objective is not simply to sell equipment. Our goal is to understand the application, identify the operational challenges, and recommend a system that aligns with the customer's performance and budget requirements. In many cases, a brief conversation can reveal important details that save considerable time and expense later in the project.
If you are evaluating a solids control, dewatering, classification, or separation project, we encourage you to contact GN. Any information you can provide regarding the material, operating conditions, or performance objectives will help us deliver more accurate recommendations and a more effective solution.
