GN Solids America has successfully supplied a Decanter Centrifuge and Cuttings Dryer system for an Africa drilling company, providing an efficient solution for oil-based drilling cuttings treatment and mud recovery. This integrated system is designed to reduce waste volume, recover valuable drilling fluids, and help operators meet strict environmental regulations in oil and gas drilling operations.

The core of the system includes two GNLW363CD-VFD decanter centrifuges and one GNCD930G vertical cuttings dryer. The GNLW363CD-VFD centrifuges are specially designed for drilling fluids solids control. Equipped with a variable frequency drive (VFD), they allow flexible adjustment of bowl speed and differential speed to handle different drilling conditions and solids loading. With high G-force and wear-resistant components, these centrifuges efficiently separate fine solids from oil-based drilling mud, maximizing mud recovery and reducing the need for new mud makeup.
The GNCD930G cuttings dryer is used downstream to further process drilling cuttings discharged from shale shakers. By applying high-speed centrifugal force, the dryer effectively removes residual oil from drill cuttings, reducing oil-on-cuttings (OOC) levels to meet environmental discharge standards. The recovered oil-based mud can be reused in the drilling system, significantly lowering overall drilling fluid costs.
To ensure stable and continuous operation, the package is supplied with screw conveyors, centrifuge feed pumps, and cuttings dryer flushing pumps. These auxiliary components enable smooth material transfer between equipment and reliable cleaning of the dryer during operation, improving system efficiency and reducing downtime.
This complete drilling waste management system is widely applied in onshore and offshore oil and gas drilling, particularly for oil-based mud and synthetic-based mud applications.
