A screw conveyor is a mechanical conveying device used to transport bulk materials horizontally or at a slight incline. It consists of a rotating helical screw blade, also known as an auger, enclosed within a cylindrical casing or trough. Screw conveyors are widely used in various industries such as agriculture, food processing, mining, wastewater treatment, and construction for handling a wide range of materials including grains, powders, granules, and sludge. The bulk material to be conveyed is fed into the inlet of the screw conveyor, either manually or through a feeding mechanism such as a hopper or chute. As the screw rotates, the helical blade pushes the material along the trough. The rotational motion of the screw creates a continuous flow of material along the conveyor length. The material reaches the discharge end of the screw conveyor where it can be directed to a downstream process, storage container, or another conveyor system. The speed of the screw rotation and the conveyor inclination angle can be adjusted to control the rate of material flow and the conveying distance. Screw conveyors can be designed in various configurations to suit specific application requirements. These include vertical screw conveyors for lifting materials, shaftless screw conveyors for handling sticky or fibrous materials, and flexible screw conveyors for conveying in tight spaces or around obstacles. Screw conveyors offer several advantages including simplicity of design, ease of installation and maintenance, flexibility in configuration, and the ability to handle a wide range of materials. However, they may have limitations in conveying abrasive or corrosive materials and may require additional equipment for dust control or material containment in certain applications. Overall, screw conveyors are a versatile and cost-effective solution for bulk material handling in many industrial processes. At GN, we utilize a custom design and constructed screw conveyor as a part of drilling waste management system. Our auger is designed with 12 feet per section, which is a standard part to interchange with each other. With using anti-abrasive screw material for longer life than our competitors. Our screw conveyor provides a low cost and efficent cuttings transport system for offshore and onshore drilling operations. Our screw conveyors are manufactured to the highest safety standards and are fitted with protective grating or cover to prevent objects for falling in. Safety and success is achieved with our equipment at GN Solids.
